Center Santa Fe Portfolio Review 2019 participant

This year I finally got admitted (yes, I have been applying several times) to partcipate at the Review Santa Fe in New Mexico. And I had a blast going. Santa Fe is a small town with a tiny, low rise center. Surrounded by dry rock desert it still has a lush, friendly and vibrant atmosphere. Galleries and culture in seemingly every other building and not to forget one of the best photography bookstores I have ever been to. Adn the portfolio review itself was great. Focused and intentional, the Center review manages to gather an amazing array of photographers whose projects deserve greater recognition and couple them up with the connected people they need to meet.
Starting out the reviews with my first meeting I sat down with the photo editor from National Geographic. After a recomendation I got from a gallerist in NYC he was one of the top names on my wishlist. Still, I think we were both surprised by how much we enjoyed our conversation and considering the strangeness of my nature photography I am overjoyed that we have kept in contact afterwards. The rest of the reviews continued in the same vein of happy coincidences and perfect matches. Even the gallerist I finally got to meet and realizing we were not right for each other right now wanted updates on my planned future project.
And the open public portfoliowalk was suprisingly great. All the 100 photographers showing their portfolios to the public in the old farmers market hall. People I didn´t know kept coming to say hello from some other common friends we had, and my own old photographer friends from NM, Meggan Gould and Eddie Soloway showed up for hugs and after-walk drinks.
