“Croisière au Cercle Polaire. Eté 1929”

I have made a collaborative project for an exhibition in Mons, Belgium together with the artist Claire Ducène at the foundation Maison Losseau. "Croisière au Cercle Polaire. Eté 1929" commemorates the Belgian cultural mesén, explorer, lawyer and photoenthusiast Léon Losseau´s expedition to the Norwegian Polar Circle in 1929. The exhibition will hang until summer 2019 and we took Losseau´s personal archives as a starting point to create new material and connections questioning the autobiographical narrative. I have been travelling along Losseau´s original route through Norway making new work inspired by his photography. Mounted in old frames and displayed around his old house as newly found missing images from his archives, my pictures subtly blend into Losseau´s story of his own life. For me the new material I created can be seen as fictional, but also real, as a gift from me that I want to share with him as if we met through time while I traveled along his original route through Norway.
