More somehow

A collaboration with another photographer can create a common focus in suprising ways.
These images are all made in collaboration with the photographer Meggan Gould in the US. We just barely got to know each other in a random meeting at the photofestival Fotofest in Houston 2008. We stayed slightly in contact through emails and after 5 years Meggan suggested that we should ppol our shared sensibilities into a collaborative project. The goal was set to actually creat photographs together and not only work in parallell. We set up a system where one photographer would make a small series of 6-8 images shot on large format film. Then the undeveloped film was sent to the other photographer who would shoot another series on top of the first one. Finally the film would be developed and we would both finally see the result of the combined works.
As the photographs are all double exposures we have both contributed the same and none of us kne what the other one had photographed. Still we did develop a shared feeling of the other ones sensibility and how our images all revolve aroudn the same kind of themes and thoughts.

Through the project we made 122 photographs through 5 years and ended up with about 50 images we are happy with.
This series is published as a photobook.
